Announcing SYPN travel bursaries for CCGH and GHSYPS

Every year, more than 600 people from 30+ countries gather for the Canadian Conference on Global Health (CCGH). Practitioners, researchers, educators, students, policy makers and community mobilizers from health, humanitarian and other sectors come to share their knowledge and experience and find new ways to work together. The 2018 edition of the CCGH will take place in Toronto from Nov. 19 to 21 and will examine the theme of “Fragile Environments and Global Health: Examining drivers of change.”

The 5th Global Health Students and Young Professionals Summit (GHSYPs Summt) is a SYP-led conference that will be held in Toronto on Nov. 18. Organized in collaboration with the Canadian Society for International Health (CSIH) and the CCGHR SYP Network, this exciting event will focus on “Becoming Change Agents in Global Health.”

The CCGHR is proud to offer travel bursaries to attend this year’s CCGH and the preceding GHSYPs Summit, both held in Toronto, Ontario. Financial assistance will increase the accessibility of these two events, allowing more of our member SYPs to benefit from the learning and networking opportunities provided by these important events. Four bursaries will be awarded to eligible CCGHR members to cover the cost of transportation to and from Toronto, as well as the cost of registration for the two events. Please note that successful applicants will need to cover their own accommodation and meals.

Bursary eligibility criteria:

  • Applicants must be paying CCGHR student/young professional members at the time of application ($35/year). To become a member or renew >
  • Preference will be given to SYPs who: 1) have had their CCGH abstract accepted; 2) are available for the full duration of the conferences, Nov. 18-21; 3) have not had the opportunity to attend the CCGH or GHSYPs Summit previously; and 4) do not have access to alternate funding mechanisms (e.g financial support from their school or work).
