Description:
“The Indigenous Health Research Development Program (IHDRP) provides financial support for graduate students pursuing master’s or doctoral degrees and post-doctoral fellowships in a health-related field which focus on the health of Aboriginal people. Financial support is provided in the form of scholarships and/or research allowance.”

Eligibility:

  • You must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident; furthermore, you should be a permanent resident of Ontario, or have lived in Ontario for at least one year prior to your expected date of admission.
  • Both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal students are eligible to apply
  • You must be able to demonstrate acceptance in an accredited health-related graduate program
  • Priority will be given to projects that are community-based or involve active Aboriginal community partnership

The focus of this award is Indigenous health research.

You must submit the following to the IHRDP (to the address listed below):

  • completed application form (www.ihrdp.ca/pdfs/IHRDPawardappjan2008fillable.pdf)
  • transcripts
  • letters of reference from academic supervisor and a second advisor or employer
  • letter from community partner (if research is being conducted in a community)
  • current CV
  • summary of personal, academic and career goals
  • summary of proposed research (3 pages)
  • detailed budget (if applying for a research allowance)

Applications will be accepted twice a year: on the first Monday in May and the first Monday in November.
