Description:
The Temerty Family Foundation is a Toronto-based organization that provides funding for projects for Canadian charitable organizations. The areas of interest to the Foundation are: medical research, arts and culture, initiatives aimed at providing social and educational support in countries of need, and social support organizations that address the needs of children and underprivileged individuals.

Eligibility:
Your organization must be a Canadian registered charity, or be affiliated with a registered charity in Canada, according to the criteria of Canada Customs and Revenue Agency

Specific focus on global health research?
No. There is a specific focus on medical research, and a preferred focus on Canadian work, but if your research would help people both in Canada as well as globally, it would be considered.

Application Process:
You should submit proposals by mail to the Foundation. These are the components that you should include in your proposal package:

• the name and nature of your proposed initiative
• a summary of your project’s process and objectives
• an explanation of the funding requested as well as a budget
• sponsors
• track record
• references: The foundation is not looking for a great deal of detail or a specific number of references. They’re looking for someone who may have provided funding to your group in the past (they do not have to provide information about amount of funding, etc.), just to give them an idea of the work that was done with their funding, and whether or not they were happy with what the funding was used for. Its purpose is to give the Foundation a feel for your organization and who is involved in the organization in terms of funding and support.

Deadline:
The Board of Directors meets three times a year – in January, June and September – to review requests for funding. In order for it to be considered, your proposal should be submitted at least one month before the next scheduled meeting.
