You will be awarded support for doctoral or post-doctoral studies, through either a fellowship, grant or recognition award.

Description:
“IFUW and its national affiliates help to build the future by offering fellowships and grants to enable women and girls to achieve their educational goals.”

Eligibility:

• You must be female, and in at least the second year of a doctoral program, or engaged in post-doctoral work
• You must be a member of an IFUW national federation or association; as a Canadian, you are eligible to join if you graduated from a Canadian university. If you are from a country that does not have an association with IFUW, you can register as an International Member.

Specific focus on global health research?
Not necessarily. Any type of study, including health, is eligible, but preference is given to projects that reflect IFUW’s priorities (described on its website). In terms of global work, IFUW will give preference to your project if your work will take place in a country that is not your home country.

Application Process:
You must both obtain the application package from as well as apply through your country’s national IFUW headquarters (or through IFUW headquarters in Geneva if you are going to apply as an International Member). This package will become available ten months before the next competition.

Deadline:
The competition is held every two or three years. Please contact your national headquarters to determine the specific deadline for your country. The deadline for the 2008-2009 research period for has passed; the next competition will open in 2010.
