Fellowship to support postdoctoral candidates or those in post health professional degree stages to conduct health research in Canada or abroad.

Description:
The objectives of this program are to “provide recognition and funding to academic researchers early in their career, [and] to provide a reliable supply of highly skilled and qualified researchers.”

Eligibility:

• you may be either Canadian or a citizen of another country
• you must hold or be completing a PhD, or a professional degree in a health-related field
• you must be undertaking or planning to undertake your post-doctoral training in a different environment than the one you received your PhD in.

Specific focus on global health research?
No, but if you wish to conduct research abroad you are eligible to apply.

Deadline:
CIHR will accept applications on February 1 and October 1 of each year. Make sure that you make this deadline; late submissions will not be accepted.

If you are a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada, you may apply to hold this award outside of Canada.
