Description:
The Seventh Generation Fund is an Indigenous non-profit organization dedicated to promoting and maintaining the uniqueness of Native peoples throughout the Americas. We offer an integrated program of advocacy, small grants, training and technical assistance, media experience and fiscal management, lending our support and extensive expertise to Indigenous grassroots communities.”

The Seventh Generation Fund has seven Program Areas:

  • Arts and Cultural Expression
  • Environmental Health and Justice
  • Human Rights
  • Women’s Leadership
  • Sacred Earth
  • Sustainable Communities
  • Intergenerational Leadership

Eligibility:

  • You must be an Indigenous organization or community
  • The Foundation does not fund individuals

There are many program criteria outlined on the Grantmaking Guidelines page; please ensure that your envisioned project meets these criteria.

Specific focus on global health research?
The focus is on community-oriented, grassroots Indigenous projects, and training and technical assistance related to such projects. These are not specifically research, but they could include research-oriented activities, as long as the Fund’s program criteria are met.

Application Process:
Please submit an grant proposal that includes the following: General Grant Application Cover Sheet (a link to this document can be found on the Grantmaking Guidelines page); budget information; information about your organization’s certification; a description of how your project meets the Fund’s criteria; and ensure that you include the WHO, WHAT, WHEN, WHERE and HOW (outlined in the Grantmaking Guidelines). Please ensure that your package does not exceed a total of 10 pages.

Deadline:
Application deadlines are March 1, June 1, September 1 and December 1 of every year.
