“The Foundation strives to help the earth's poorest people live healthier lives by supporting programs for infectious diseases, particularly neglected infectious diseases, in developing countries. We support collaborative efforts - the International Trachoma Initiative, The Global Alliance to Eliminate Lymphatic Filariasis, the Measles Initiative, and others - that promote better health.”
Eligibility:
If you are an American organization, you must have IRS tax-exempt status; if your organization is from another country, you must demonstrate the equivalent, as well as submit the amount of your overall operating budget.
Specific focus on global health research?
The focus is specifically on global health projects, including research.
Application Process:
The Foundation asks that you first submit a letter of inquiry, on your organization’s letterhead. This should include: the objectives/outcomes of the project, a description of the population that will be involved, a description of your organizations qualifications and ability to conduct the project, an estimated budget and a project timetable.
Based on your letter of inquiry, the Foundation may request the submission of a full proposal. This will occur approximately 6 weeks prior to submission deadlines (December 15th and June 15th). The requirements for a full proposal are outlined on the Application Process – Guidelines page (see below).
